Over at gonintendo you can see the new thicker straps coming out for replacement when you break your strap. Nintendo really responded pretty well and quick on getting heavier straps since people are swinging the wiimote hard enough to break the previous strap. I’ve gotta wonder what the previous strap was rated at… I’ll bet it was fairly sturdy to begin with and people are just swinging obscenely hard (I’ve seen some people play ddr *twitch*) Still stalking a Wii personally, either strap will work fine for me… I don’t get that energetically into my video game experience.

So I had an opportunity to fiddle with a Zune today at office max while I was getting a new computer chair. It’s an interesting player but in all honesty I’d rather have an iPod or Zen. The Zune just has a lot of restrictions that don’t make any sense if they’re honestly trying to gain market share with this player… I choose to look at this player like most Microsoft early releases… horrible and will get better in revisions. Think about it… 98 was bad… 98SE wasn’t to bad comparatively. IE3/4 was *horrible*, IE5 was a Netscape killer. The XBOX was pretty lackluster but the 360 is truly a beast. I expect the Zune will be a similar product… right now it’s weak but in the future it has some potential. They really need to get some marketing people and techies working on that project pronto though.
Edit: Aszurom sent me this picture for this post… rofl.

I expect the worst out of reviewers, I knew a few who legitimately evaluated the games the way they played and basically they got ripped apart and the company threatened to pull advertising revenue from the magazine unless they retracted the review, etc. So I *know* there is a lot of dirty behind the scenes buyouts out there going on. However… don’t try to put the fault on the reviewer or people offended by people passing it off as truth. This gem at wired by Michael Ansaldo tries to fault Hexus for publishing emails about Alienware telling them in writing point blank “We won’t send you hardware anymore because you didn’t give us a good review, guarantee a good review and we’ll send you hardware.” Gee, do you think he may suddenly feel a bit guilty about taking payoffs in the past for good reviews? The original article by Hexus is published here. If you’d like to see alienware back peddle a bit, read more on the last page…
